Durango Carrotmob

This Saturday, October 24, we're going to have a Carrotmob in Durango!

If you don't know what Carrotmob is: Businesses compete with one another to see who is willing do the most good. The business who wins the bid of the highest percentage they are willing to donate of their profits on a specified day to making their business more environmentally friendly, has to commit to doing so. Then a big mob of consumers buy products in order to reward whichever business made the strongest commitment to improve the world. It's the opposite of a boycott.

It's easier to understand if you look at an example. In the first ever Carrotmob event, a liquor store agreed to invest in upgrades that made their store more energy-efficient. In exchange, hundreds of Carrotmobbers showed up at once to support the winning liquor store. Here's a video of that campaign, and the mayhem that ensued: view video.  Also see the blog

The winning bidder in Durango is Stonehouse Subs. They will spend 35% of their gross receipts from the day of the event on green improvements to their business.  They are offering $4 4" subs and if you bring exact change you skip to the fron of the line! So basically, go to Stonehouse Subs Saturday, October 24, and help your environment!

HGTV named their favorite Christmas towns and of course Durango made the list!  They love Durango for its unique style of Cowboy Christmas flair, and love the traditions, culture and history of the beautiful town of Durango.  Also provided are tips for decorating your home with the same western cowboy Christmas decorations, so if you can't be in Durango for the holidays, you can at least feel like it!
