This Saturday, October 24, we're going to have a Carrotmob in Durango!
If you don't know what Carrotmob is: Businesses compete with one another to see who is willing do the most good. The business who wins the bid of the highest percentage they are willing to donate of their profits on a specified day to making their business more environmentally friendly, has to commit to doing so. Then a big mob of consumers buy products in order to reward whichever business made the strongest commitment to improve the world. It's the opposite of a boycott.
It's easier to understand if you look at an example. In the first ever Carrotmob event, a liquor store agreed to invest in upgrades that made their store more energy-efficient.
