11th Annual San Juan Brewfest

CookManFood is teaming up with the United Way of Southwest Colorado as well as Durango Mountain Resort on the 11th annual San Juan Brewfest to help break last years records and continue to make this one of the premier events in Durango.  San Juan Brewfest will be held Sunday August 30 and gates will open at 2 p.m. and close at 6 p.m.  They will have live music from A Dub Rock Band on Main Ave between 12th and 13th Streets in front of Buckley Park.

Durango Mountain Resort will be hosting a Mushroom and Wine Festival on August 22.  There will be two events to choose from, a morning session and an evening event.  The morning session will cost $25 per person.  This includes transportation leaving from the DMR arrival court at 9:30 a.m. to Dante's Mountain Restaurant for the mushroom tour, a box lunch, a mushroom preperation demonstration, and return transportation. 

The evening event is $65 per person for adults and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Durango Mountain Club.  This will include valet parking at the Purgatory Lodge Main entrance, the course entree sampling featuring mushrooms with wine pairings and dessert, along with musical entertainment and the fantastic views of the Durango Mountain Club.

Backpacker Magazine recently published it's list of the top 25 places to raise an outdoor kid in America.

2009 Tour of Durango

The 2009 Tour of Durango will be working in conjunction with the Single Speed World Mountain Bike Championships being held September 19, 2009

Non-competitive tour of Durango's world class single track trail systems including River Trail, Horse Gulch, Animas Mountain, Dalla Mountain Park and Durango Mountain Park - a true 360 degree tour of Durango's finest trails.

You choose:

  • Mountain bike or run/hike
  • Bronze (13 mile), Silver (26 mile) or Gold (32 mile) distance
  • Start time - 8 AM (strict cut offs enforced along the course)

All participants start at The Commons (701 Camino Del Rio) and finish at the huge block party in downtown Durango in front of Alpine Bank and Carvers.

Proceeds benefit Trails 2000 and the Southwest Conservation Corps.

Trails 2000 plans, builds and maintains trails in and around Durango and the
Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) is a non-profit employment, job training, and education organization that organizes  youths  to complete conservation projects on public lands.
